This Phoenix Rises Again - Taking Flight in a New Direction

What is the Phoenix - this mythical bird I am so often compared to? Or better yet, what is it that causes me to run about with wings on fire - faster and faster, hoping the flames don't devour me completely?  I work too much, play too little, and this time, the Phoenix having burned out once again, is rising with a different attitude and newly focused.  I have come to realize life is pretty darned short and should not be so full of work and stress that you can't enjoy what you work so hard to enjoy.  Makes sense - right!?

I can no longer work a full time job, have a nearly full time dance career, own and write for a magazine, spend time with family and friends and stay on my dancing feet.  So I am de-stressing, de-cluttering, and de-doing a few things to better focus on family, friends and dance in a better way - in the way I love the most.  With new classes coming up (some on line), coaching, troupe -well- more dance, I am fully aware I can't do that when I am sitting at a computer.  Nor can I feel guilty while I am in the studio dancing/teaching because I am not sitting at the computer.

Hadia: Reyhan how did you learn or where do you find your inspiration to dance and dance oh so wonderfully? Did your mother and/or father love to dance so much? Did you find your inspiration from seeing other women dancing at their community parties and events as a young girl? Reyhan: My father passed away when I was a new born, and my mother was not ready to grow me by herself and she refused me. So, I was raised by my father’s mother, who was quite a dancer!! My family members are all gifted for music and dance, so, yes, my childhood was always full of music and dance! Yes, when I see people dancing and hear the music, I can immediately manipulate the movement ... it is a gift, I think. I don’t think much about what I do or what I want to do … I just follow - the music tells me to do.
