Mid-Summer 2003 “The Belly Dancer Magazine” was born in print format.  The BDM, began as a small publication in physical size that just after its first quarter outgrew its 26 pages.  Our last print publication (Winter 2007 – Jan/Feb/March) was 8.5” x 11” and had 60 pages with 11 pages of full color ads, and full color cover.  We adapted to this growth, providing more information, expanded articles/columns and a dream to grow even more.

Times and news formats have changed drastically over these last few years, not only in our industry, but the magazine and news periodical industry as a whole.  We made the decision to be proactive and move “with” those changes rather than struggle against them.  Running along side the print publication for the last 4 years has been a pretty busy BDM website, with many months accumulating up to 200k hits.  It made complete sense to us to “take it to the web” in a more complete way.

So, the print version had burned itself out, making way for the re-birth of the Phoenix as

iShimmy.com.    

It is our desire that iShimmy.com go forward with the elegance and class, as well as excitement and splash of The Belly Dancer Magazine.  We want your “log-on” experience to be positive, educational and rewarding as you read about your friends, colleagues, peers and legends of this great art. 

We will still bring you the exciting content, wonderful columns and talented staff writers and contributors we have for the last four and a half years and now look forward to being able to expand our content more than we ever thought possible when we were only in print format.  Seemingly we have limitless ability to grow and expand into the news and educational format of our reader’s desires.
