Quarter Star * Nadira, Seattle, WA
“Flowing like a silky river, Nadira the tall sweeping blonde from Seattle is a pleasure to watch. Just when you think you've safely labeled her she surprises you with a wink and a lock so you dare not look away”.... Oberon, Portland, Oregon
We would like to introduce you to “Nadira” as this “Quarter Star”. She is a delight both on stage as well as off. There have been few dancers who have been able to so affect me with a performance - - bring me liteally to tears, and Nadira is up there with Dalia Carella, Morocco and Suzanna Del Vechio in that arena. She has a unique ability to literally work the music to “her” choice of movement, as though any piece of music she uses, was literally created for her. Her gracefull presence and powerful movement are an amazing combination.
Please Welcome “Nadira”!
Nadira's dynamism and vibrancy is quite popular and has taken her to some of the best night clubs on the west coast and Hawaii. Recently crowned 2004 Entertainer of the Year and 2005 Emerald Rain Champion, this multi-award dancer has performed in numerous shows including MEAI, 2001 - 2005 Arab Festivals, Folk Life and Bumbershoot festivals - some of the largest festivals in Seattle, WA. Nadira currently performs in clubs and restaurants throughout the Northwest, as well as other venues including weddings, parties, and birthday celebrations. She has also been a featured performer on Persian Television.
Nadira has also given her time and talent to Seattle functions for the arts including the 2004 Visual Arts Gala for Bumber-shoot, Fifteenth Annual Fundraiser and Auction for Fashion Group International in 2000 and 1999 Poncho Gala Auction; hailed as the largest auction for the arts in the world. She has also performed for members of the Pacific Northwest Ballet, based in Seattle and more recently the 21st annual "Seattle Celebrity Waiters Luncheon" for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Nadira began her journey as a performer at the early age of seven. She has studied many forms of dance from classical ballet to hip hop to jazz. In 1999, she was introduced to Middle Eastern dance after a car accident she thought ended her dance career. Utilizing this new medium of dance as a form of physical therapy, Nadira quickly embraced this style.
Entranced with this mystical new sound, Nadira started performing with Zaphara's Middle Eastern Troupe very shortly after her beginning classes. She quickly began to incorporate her broad dance and musical background with new technical moves, and her unique style emerged. Dancing in the troupe gave great exposure to performing in front of large audiences, and at various venues.
Captivated by this form of dance, Nadira immersed herself in it and quickly emerged into the professional scene with her own elegant style. She has the ability to intrigue the audience, yet keeps them at ease with her playfulness. Nadira is a sought after performer.
