Hot Tabla Solos!

Reviewed by Naj of The Belly Dance Shoppe

Ever seen a wonderful drum solo and made a mental note to find it? It was memorable but you never found it. The CD, Shake me Ya Gamal - Hot Tabla Solo Dance with Fifi Abdo has 7 such memorable drum solos. . For example, Kamaal has taught several different drum solos to the first track, Sahra Saidi and the same music is used on IAMEDs BellyDance DVD by Paulina in her drum solo.

The second track, Cycle of life is used by Jillina in one of her drum solo classes. The tracks of this CD are all noteworthy. The CD features the famous Egyptian Drummer Gama Gamal.

Tracks on the CD are as follows:

Sahra (Saidi) 4:42

Cycle of Life (Malfoof) 4:33 used by Jillina in teaching video Mouhammad Ali Street (Maqsum) 6/06 Zaar (Ayyoub) 4:25 Kaliiji Hafla (Kaliji) 5:10 Harvest's End (Fallahi) 4:04 Samaiyat (Various Rhythms) 4:42

Each drum solo has numerous changes in feel and parts can be taken to make a shorter drum solo. The cover lists the prevalent beat in the background of the drum selection for reference. But there are plenty of changes, accents and technique in each piece to inspire you and your audience. For a great drum solo give Shake Me Ya Gamal a listen. You won't be disappointed.
