Miracle in a Tube
Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant (Repair Cream)
By Zaina Hart

Is it a bird?  Is it a Plane?  No - it's Super Cream!  I came across this cream a few years back after months of horrible allergic reaction to a product in makeup.  Of course it took months to figure that out (see my Banty Rooster Eyes article here on this site for those details) but I came out on the other end with a product so versatile I keep several tubes at home and in travel kits.  What I didn't know then were the many uses of this product I often refer to as my miracle in a tube.

Every dancer should have a tube of this in their makeup kit and it should always travel with you.  The soothing ingredients, including Vitamin E can be used to heal everything from chapped lips and skin to the blisters that outlined my eyes a few years ago.  I have used vitamin E capsules, pure cocoa butter, aloe cream and gel, but nothing has ever worked as well as this product and the upside is that it is not "sticky" or "tacky" in its feel.  Elizabeth Arden's Eight-Hour Cream (the original product was developed in the 1930's and lets us not forget the founder of Elizabeth Arden basically brought the US a cosmetics industry) seemingly heals while it moisturizes.  Used at bed time this cream will have you waking in the morning with a new outlook.  My most recent use was on waxed areas where skin actually "tore" - - used at bedtime these little spots were nearly healed by morning.  And the smell/scent is soothing and calming.  Make up artists consider this an essential for their personal as well as working kits.

Here are the many uses I have found for this Micracle in a Tube!

  • Lip balm / gloss (great for winter chapped lips or summer dry lips)
  • Red, tired eyes after too much makeup - use on eyes before bed and wake up with the red on eyelids gone
  • I have used to remove stubborn acryllic liner and other make up - - my eyes just like this better than some of the harsh creams as it soothes during removal process
  • Eyebrow fix - set pencil, powder, or alone - keeps them perfectly in place
  • Dry Skin patches on elbows, knees, face, hands, etc. - has been great for the grandkid's little dry patches on arms and knees
  • Cuticle softener
  • Hand softener (use a dime size amount - rub into hands, soak in a bowl of lavender scented (or other scent) for fifteen minutes or wrap hands in a warm cloth)
  • Use very small amount to tame split ends
  • Dab small amount (tiny really) on cheeks for dewy look
  • Peeling, sunburned skin
  • Dry heels - - works wonders
