One of the leading exponents of Egyptian style Bellydance in the UK, Kay started her business, Farida Dance, in 1992. Her passion for this dance form initially led her to teaching, then importing costumes from Cairo and taking 4 groups a year there on her internationally acclaimed ‘Farida Adventures’. Kay promotes events like the Farha Tour & festival in which she bring musicians & dancers from Cairo. Kay teaches regular classes in Newcastle, the North East of England and is ‘Head of JWAAD Teacher Training’ course. This is one of the few teacher training courses specialising in Egyptian dance in the UK. Kay loves teaching, seeing her students develop, giving them opportunities and pushing their boundaries all the time. Most live in fear of answering the phone and hearing Kay say ‘I have a fabulous opportunity for you …..’
Artistically, Kay now focuses on the Tarab Dance Company of which she is one of the founder members, principal dancer & artistic director of the current show, ‘Strictly Bellydance’. www.faridaadventures.com www.farhatour.com
